The teacher clearly and accruately communicates to support persistence, deeper learning and effective effort.
I provided an example of where I'm in a breakout room with a student(s) during a math lesson or tutoring. The student(s) and I work on an activity in which they need additional support or guidance. I start the session with a brief overview of the lesson. Second, I work the problem out with them while asking for directions; this allows me to gauge their understanding. We discuss our steps and recognize when we make mistakes or do well. Lastly, the student(s) will try the last problem by themselves. Once they have finished, I will double-check their answers. At the end of the sessions, I applaud the student(s)' efforts and hard work. If a student(s) has difficulty hearing me or needs the question repeated, I will type it in the chat.
