Due to the pandemic, there have not been many opportunities to attend after-school events or parent involvement events. Although, I have heard my cooperating teacher call parents, participate in pride spirit week, and learn about student’s accessibility. My cooperating teacher would make calls to parents to express concerns about a student’s grades. Phone calls acknowledge students’ hard work and reminded students to submit work to receive a passing grade for the six weeks. This year has been challenging for everyone, but we want students to feel successful in math.
At Lively, we had pride spirit week to celebrate our LGBTQ students, staff, and community. Students and staff were encouraged to dress up every day for pride week. I have a slideshow of the Pride Week Posters and a photo of myself participating in the event.

During the week, I had students wish to go to the Falcon Showroom. The Falcon Showroom is a designated area for students all year round to have access to clothes. Student’s families also have access to the Falcon Showroom by setting up an appointment with the parent support specialist. Through the parent support specialist, student’s families have access to resources to help with the cost of living. At Lively, there is also Community in Schools (CIS), the largest dropout prevention organization.
