The teacher plans engaging, flexible lessons that encourage higher-order thinking, persistence and achievement.
I have linked a math experiential activity targeted for eight grade students on discovering slopes. The activity has students explore campus or some area with various ranges in order to learn about steepness when expressing linear equations. Students will have time to explore campus and take notes on their attempt to walk on it. After students have explored campus, they will come back as a class to determine a description of each slope. Students will have questions to reflection questions to further their thinking and facilitated conversation within their groups. At the end of the lesson, students will have to fill an anchor chart on slope steepness.
