The teacher designs clear, well-organized, sequential lessons that reflect best practice, align with the standards, and are appropriate for diverse learners.
This is a lesson from a 7th grade advanced classroom that follows the standards and objectives of that week for math. This lesson was well-designed and visual. Students also have access to a video that has in-progress questions. This lesson was designed for students to recall previous knowledge and applied their understanding of lateral area and surface area to other 3D-shapes. We reviewed what lateral area and surface area refers to, big B or base area, height, and perimeter. The students practiced with their daily slides and Prodigy, an educational app, where they would have to provide steps and the final answer. Students were able to follow along and have guided practice with the teacher. Students would provide the step-by-step instructions when applicable.
