As a teacher in the making at St. Edward's University, we are encouraged to explore. In my educational technology course, an opportunity to explore an educational technology integration based on my interests and teaching certification. My research focused on exploring math anxiety and technology. I researched the advantages and disadvantages of using online math resources and applying them in the classroom to decrease math anxiety. I encourage you to look at the blog post I wrote. I define math anxiety, how technology prevents and reduces math anxiety, and research behind the math app GeoGebra in the classroom.

In my education course, an opportunity to explore the Teachers College Press teaching social justice series of my choosing. I chose to read See You When We Get There: Teaching for Change in Urban Schooling by Gregory Michie. The book centers on five young urban teachers of color who are “working for change” in today's urban schools. We enter these five women's classrooms and observe the teacher-student and peer interactions. These teachers' voices are interwoven with intriguing classroom vignettes and combined with Michie’s own experiences as a classroom teacher. I chose this book because I was unsure what social justice in the classroom looks like or truly meant. I was terrified of describing myself as a teacher of change without knowing what it should look like. At the end of the journey, I gained a perspective of social justice and how my experiences can reflect my motivations towards my future students. If you would like to hear more about my exploration of, See You When We Get There: Teaching for Change in Urban Schooling, I hope you will look at blog posts detailing my journey.
